
Looking for the best place to retire in Canada? Consider Windsor-Essex. That’s the theme of recent Globe and Mail articles touting our region as the spot to be for retirees.
“Retire earlier, with cash to spare, in Canada’s most southerly city,” reads the headline of a piece published Wednesday in the national newspaper.
On Monday, a Globe and Mail list of seven “surprisingly warm” retirement spots across the country ranked Windsor third — saying the city “grows in estimation” with its hot summers, nearby bodies of water, ample wineries, and proximity to the U.S.
For Krista Del Gatto, executive officer of the Windsor-Essex Active Retirement Community Initiative, the attention is just more proof that the initiative is paying off. “It’s definitely working,” Del Gatto said Wednesday.
