For over 17 years, WECAR™ has proudly supported the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation (ORCF) – the charitable arm of Ontario REALTORS® dedicated to supporting shelter-related and food insecurity causes across the province. It’s a meaningful way for REALTORS® to give back to the communities where they live and work by supporting charities that provide safety, dignity, and hope to those in need.
Since 2021, WECAR™ Members have contributed $2 a month through their membership dues as part of the Every REALTOR® Campaign – a small yet impactful gift that has created a significant impact. In 2024 alone, WECAR™ raised over $41,000, with 100% of those funds going directly to local charities right here in the Windsor-Essex County area.
Province-wide, Ontario REALTORS® helped grant more than $1.8 million to over 170 organizations in 2024. Since the Foundation’s inception in 1964, over $20 million has been invested back to communities across the province by supporting those who need it the most. That’s the power of REALTORS® working together – and yet, the need continues to grow.
Today, food security and finding a safe, permanent shelter is an increasing challenge for many Ontarians. Over 81,500 people experienced homelessness last year – a 25% increase since 2022. Nearly half of Ontario renters are now spending more than 30% of their income on housing, the highest rate in the country. Food insecurity is also on the rise, with food bank usage up 42% over the past three years. More than 1 million Ontarians now rely on food banks.
In the face of this growing need, REALTOR® support matters more than ever.
There are many ways to get involved – from hosting a local fundraiser with the Foundation as a beneficiary, to nominating a deserving colleague for an Ontario REALTORS Care® Fellowship Award, to donating directly. You can also help amplify our message by sharing ORCF’s work on social media. Plus, initiatives like the annual Motorcycle Ride for Charity offer REALTORS® a fun and meaningful way to give back through the mutual love of motorcycle and community support. Every action, no matter how big or small, helps a neighbour in need.
