The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has just launched a fundraising campaign in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ 2023 Alberta Fires Appeal.
Out-of-control wildfires are causing evacuations and destruction across much of Alberta. More than 24,000 people have been displaced and a growing number of homes and businesses have been destroyed.
As of Wednesday, May 10, 78 wildfires were burning across the province, with 24 of them not responding to suppression efforts. Hot and dry weather in the forecast threatens to make matters worse.
We’re encouraging the REALTOR® community to make tax-receiptable donations to support those affected, using our REALTORS Care® fundraising page.
The Canadian Red Cross has teams on the ground providing urgent assistance to families and communities impacted. Working closely with local governments and Indigenous leaders, they are providing emergency aid such as relief supplies and lodging support.
